A CiviCRM membership site that had to move to Joomla 6
WARMTH – the World Association of Radiopharmaceutical and Molecular Therapy – is a non-profit, founded in 2009, that promotes radionuclide therapy and theragnostics worldwide and organises the ICRT conference. Its Joomla site uses CiviCRM for membership applications, donations and the ICRT mailing list.
WARMTH was upgraded in the same project as NorCal CarciNET Community. CiviCRM’s Joomla package targets Joomla 5, so the site needed the same safe route to Joomla 6.
Goal: move to Joomla 6 without breaking CiviCRM, and without core changes that the next CiviCRM update would undo.
Reuse the proven fix, then test every CiviCRM page
- Same CiviCRM Joomla 6 compatibility workExtensions and hooks built in this project – no CiviCRM core file modifications.
- Upgrade the site to Joomla 6Existing template kept, extensions updated and tested.
- Check membership & paymentsThe online membership application and the donation page are CiviCRM contribution pages, so both were tested after the upgrade.
- Check the mailing listThe CiviCRM subscription page for ICRT news keeps working.
- Test the CiviCRM update cycleCiviCRM updates were tested to make sure the compatibility changes persist.
