How do I log in to the Joomla administrator?
Add /administrator to your site address, for example example.com/administrator, and log in with the account you created when installing.
How it works
Every Joomla site has two parts: the site your visitors see, and the administrator where you manage it. The administrator always lives at your site address followed by /administrator.
Log in
- Open example.com/administrator (for a site on your computer, for example localhost/mysite/administrator).
- Enter the username and password you chose when you installed Joomla (the Super User account).
- Click Log in. You arrive on the Home Dashboard.
If it doesn't work
- Forgot the password? Use the reset described in "I forgot my admin password".
- The page reloads without logging you in? That is a cookie or session problem; see "I can't log in to the administrator".
- Your account can log in on the site but not here? Only Manager, Administrator and Super User groups can log in to the administrator.
Good to know
- To log out, open the user menu at the top right and choose Log out.
