How do I install an extension?
System → Install → Extensions: upload the zip, or paste its URL. Find extensions in the Joomla Extensions Directory (extensions.joomla.org).
Before you install
Every extension you add is code that must be kept updated. Check that it is made for your Joomla version, is actively maintained, and isn't on the Vulnerable Extensions List.
Install
- Go to System → Install → Extensions.
- Upload Package File: drag the zip in. Installation starts by itself.
- Or Install from URL (paste the download link), or Install from Web (browse the Joomla Extensions Directory).
- Enable it if needed: modules and plugins are often installed disabled. Find them in System → Manage → Extensions.
If the upload fails
- The zip is bigger than your upload limit: use Install from Folder. Upload the unpacked files to your site's
tmpfolder by FTP and install from there.
