Which hosting is good for Joomla?
Any host with PHP 8.3+, MySQL 8 or MariaDB, SSH or a file manager, and daily backups. Avoid plans that limit uploads below 64 MB.
What matters more than the brand
Joomla runs on almost any modern PHP hosting. The difference between a fast, safe site and a slow one is usually the hosting plan, so check a few things before you buy.
Look for
- Current PHP (8.3/8.4) that you can switch yourself, and MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.6+.
- Daily backups you can restore yourself, kept for at least a week.
- SSH or a good file manager, and phpMyAdmin.
- Free SSL (Let's Encrypt) and HTTP/2 or HTTP/3.
- Enough resources: at least 256 MB PHP memory and an upload limit of 64 MB or more.
- Servers close to your visitors and support that knows PHP applications.
Avoid
- Plans that lock old PHP versions, block
.htaccess, or limit uploads to a few MB. - Free hosting for a real site: limits, ads and no backups.
