Which menu item type should I choose?
"Single Article" for one page, "Category Blog" for a news-style list with intros, "Category List" for a table of titles.
Why it matters
The menu item type decides what a page shows and how. Picking the right one saves you from building lists by hand.
The common types (Articles)
- Single Article: one article, such as About us or Contact details.
- Category Blog: the intros of a category's articles, one or more columns, with Read more links. Good for news and blogs.
- Category List: a table of article titles from a category. Good for downloads, minutes, long archives.
- Featured Articles: articles marked as Featured, from any category. Often used for the home page.
- List All Categories: a category tree, for help centres or directories.
- Archived Articles and Create Article (a front-end form for authors).
Other useful types
- Users → Login Form, Contacts → Single Contact (with a contact form), Smart Search, System Links → URL (an external link) and Menu Heading (a label without a page).
